TextTerm+Graphics uses Apple's built in Communication Toolbox for connections and file transfer. Some of the tools are available from Apple and installed with there system software or upgrades. All of the tools are installed in your extensions folder, so make sure that you have the tools you need.
For Internet access, you need:
• MacTCP or OpenTransport provided with your Mac OS and configured correctly.
• Internet access via your ethernet port, or a SLIP or PPP connection via a modem; eg. MacSLIP or
FreePPP.
• ATelnet tool; eg. TGE TCP Tool.
• File transfer tools; eg. Kermit, XMODEM, ZMODEM, YMODEM, Text.
• For FTP file transfers, the Fetch application is one of the most widely used.
For simple terminal access with a modem, you need:
• Apple Modem Tool.
• File transfer tools; eg. Kermit, XMODEM, ZMODEM, YMODEM, Text.
Connection Tools:
• Apple Modem Tool for dialing in as a terminal
• Serial Tool for direct serial connections
• AppleTalk ADSP Tool for connections via AppleTalk
• TGE TCP Tool forTelnet connections (requires MacTCP or OpenTransport)
SLIP & PPP Tools:
• MacSLIP provides the Single Line Internet Protocol for internet access.
• FreePPP provides the Point to Point Protocol for internet access.
File Transfer Tools:
• Text Tool for the plain text transfer protocol
• XMODEM Tool for the XMODEM protocol
• Kermit Tool for the Kermit protocol
• YMODEM Tool for the YMODEM protocol
• ZMODEM Tool for the ZMODEM protocol
• Fetch Application for FTP protocol; it is a complete application and is widely used!
